Centering Prayer

“Be still and Know that I am God”

Sunday 5:00 to 5:45
Saint John’s Library

We invite you to join us to explore and learn more about Centering Prayer, and to experience in community this contemplative practice.

Our format includes listening to Taizé chanting, a prayer, 20 minutes of silence, and a closing prayer.  Following the closing prayer, some people prefer to leave while maintaining their silence, others prefer to remain and discuss their practice until 5:45.

"Centering prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer: rather it casts a new light and depth of meaning on them.  It is at the same time a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. This method of prayer is a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with Christ.” — Contemplative Outreach (2016)

Newcomers are welcome and brief instruction is available.
