The Cathedral Choir

The Cathedral Choir provides music for the 11:15 Eucharist on Sunday mornings and for many special occasions throughout the year. The choir is some 40 voices strong. Some choose to sing at the 9 am liturgy as well. Singing at monthly Evensong and diocesan ordinations is all part of our work.

The choir rehearses Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9 pm. Rehearsal is at 8:25 am for the 9 am Eucharist and at 10:15 am for the 11:15 am Eucharist. The Cathedral Choir is closed (with rare exceptions) to new members from the Feast of All Saints (1 November) through Epiphany (January 6) and from Candlemas (February 2) until after Easter.

Saint John's Cathedral Choir is for adults and is an auditioned choir. Based on individual ability, newcomers are gradually "folded in" to the choir, singing more complex material as familiarity with the repertoire and sight reading skills allow. As any experienced choral singer knows, our work together is incredibly rewarding. If you are unsure of your abilities, contact Stephen Tappe at 303-831-7115 x. 7726.

The Cathedral Schola Cantorum is a group of singers selected from the ranks of the Cathedral Choir for the purpose of singing music which must be quickly learned, requires smaller forces or which is highly technical. Members of the Schola are appointed by the Director. Contact Stephen Tappe.
