Be a Part of Ending Homelessness in Denver

After hurricanes Katrina and Rita ravaged the Gulf Coast, the number of families needing homes grew in many cities, including Denver. But even before the hurricanes, Denver had a significant population of homeless families and seniors. Our mayor, John Hickenlooper, has challenged the faith communities of the metro area to step forward and work with him on a ten year plan to end homelessness in Denver.

Part of the Mayor's plan includes having teams of parishioners from churches around Denver mentor families or seniors as they move from the streets into homes. Teams will receive a three-hour training and be asked to meet with the family once per month for six or seven months. If you are interested in joining others from Saint John's in this important outreach work, please contact Canon Crummey

Habitat for Humanity

Saint John's Cathedral is part of an interfaith coalition building interfaith relationships one house at a time. In 2008 there will be regular opportunities to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. To receive our notices and to be the first to hear about new build opportunities, contact Canon Crummey.
