November 5 - New York Polyphony
New York Polyphony is establishing itself as one of the finest classical vocal ensembles of a new generation. With "beautifully blended voices of individual distinction" (The
Independent, London, U.K.), the all-male foursome delivers its signature fusion of historically informed performances in a range of styles. Interspersed among a program of sacred masterpieces from Tudor England are four new works by British-Norwegian composer Andrew Smith, adding a modern harmonic richness and complexity to the program. The result is a compelling synthesis of ancient and contemporary vocal music. Tickets are $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for seniors and students, sold only on concert night.

December 10 - Kantorei
A Spotless Rose
Attendance at Kantorei's annual Christmas concert has doubled since they started singing at Saint John's Cathedral just two seasons ago, and for good reason. Pairing the warm, resonant acoustics of the Cathedral with the moving Christmas music Kantorei sings under the direction of Richard Larson creates a winning combination. This year's theme is A Spotless Rose, inspired by the time-honored setting from English composer Herbert Howells. Again, the right music in the right place at the right time... For ticket information, please visit the Kantorei website at www. kantorei.org.
December 12 - Messiah (Part One) by George Frideric Handel, Sunday at 7:30
(Reservations highly recommended)
Whatever your spiritual tradition or path, we invite you to step away from the hectic preparations for Christmas. Come spend an evening in the soaring setting of the Cathedral, absorbed in the beloved music of Messiah. Tickets are $24 (row 44 and lower), $21 (row 45 and higher, and the gallery), and $15 for seniors and students. Please visit our website, www.sjcathedral.org after October 18 for ticket information. Please note that the first few rows are reserved for patrons, and that your ticket guarantees a seat within your ticketed row only.
December 17 - St. Martin's Chamber Choir
A Boy was Born
In one of Colorado's most popular holiday choral concerts, St. Martin's features Benjamin Britten's A Boy was Born and other beautiful works that celebrate this special, mystical season. Tickets are $22 for general admission, $5 for students, and $30 for premium seating (limited availability). For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit www.StMartinsChamberChoir.org or call 303-298-1970.
January 7 Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado
Venice and Versailles
The Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado presents a mid-winter candlelight concert capturing the extravagance of Venice and the elegance of Versailles. With several featured soloists from the ensemble and guest artist Ann Marie Morgan (cello piccolo and viola da gamba), the orchestra performs music of Vivaldi, Albinoni, Marais, Lalande, and Rebel. Now in its sixth season led by harpsichordist Frank Nowell and violinist Cynthia Miller Freivogel, BCOC is a professional period-instrument ensemble bringing to Colorado audiences the musical riches and spirit of improvisation of the 17th and 18th centuries. For ticket information, please visit www.bcocolorado.org.
February 4 - Ensemble Pearl
Conflict, Cooperation & Contest
Ensemble Pearl, a new baroque ensemble based in Boulder, presents a concert exploring the ideas of conflict, cooperation and contest in 17th and 18th century music. Comprised of local professionals and advanced doctoral students at the University of Colorado, the ensemble will perform on period instruments. Soprano Christie Hagemann, recent firstplace winner of the Denver Lyric Opera Guild's prestigious competition, will join them for two secular cantatas. The viola d'amore - a rare and unusual instrument with fourteen strings - is also featured in a cantata by Ariosti, a contemporary and rival of the great George Frideric Handel. Freewill offering.
