Dear Dean Eaton and Saint John's Cathedral members:
Metro CareRing would like to express our gratitude to St. John’s Cathedral for your congregational support. In February, we received cash support of $100 in donations and 75 lbs. of food from St. John’s members. Several of our volunteers have also come to us from St. John’s and there are no doubt countless intangible instances where St. John’s has helped support our mission over the years. In Denver, nearly 1 in 4 children go to bed or to school hungry every day. To meet this need, Metro CareRing has worked to feed 100,000’s of families since our establishment in 1974.
Here are just a few of the efforts that St. John’s Cathedral and members have helped make possible:
· Between the years of 2008 and 2011, Metro CareRing increased from providing 50,921 to 128,406 food services annually.
· In addition to offering food, Metro CareRing has a holistic approach to bringing people towards self-sufficiency by providing: work readiness training, healthy living and nutrition education, urban gardening classes, budget and weatherization courses, utilities assistance and funding for ID documents.
· Metro CareRing’s staff and mighty volunteer force provide over two tons of nutritious and organic food for up to 500 people daily.
Thank you for all you have done for Metro CareRing!
Humbly Yours,
Rev. Lynne Butler Preston Brasch
