At Saint John's we have found a shared hunger for meaning, learning, connection, sharing stories, and growing together in Christ.
In addition to our life of worship, formation opportunities help us to respond in the world with love, grace, and compassion. We seek to live as a true “Community in Christ,” transformed and empowered through our individual formation and our work together.
On most Sunday mornings from September to May we gather for the Dean's Forum, from 10:15 to 11 a.m. in Dagwell Hall, to engage a variety of topics related to our faith and communal life. Through May 2017 we will explore what it means to be a baptized Christian in the Episcopal Church as we prepare to dedicate our new Baptismal Font.
Cathedral Nite, is a time of fellowship, prayer, and learning to nourish your soul and deepen your faith. We have a 5:30 p.m. Eucharist, a 6:15 community dinner and engaging classes at 7 p.m. Classes covers a wide variety of topics, like the Catechumenate for those new to Christianity, the Episcopal Church, or the Cathedral; and a rotating schedule of smaller courses about Christian life taught by our Cannons.
The Cathedral also provides various small groups that meet throughout the week to have fellowship, study scripture, pray and meditate, or engage spirituality through artistic practices. If you can't find an existing group that fits your needs, then start one! To find a group that fits your spiritual needs browse our Small Group Communitiesor contact John Putnam for more information.
Education for Ministry
classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays. Education for Ministry (also known as EFM) is not a program of preparation for ordination but rather a way for all people to prepare for the kind of ministry and daily life Jesus calls us each to pursue. EFM is a four-year program of study and small group participation designed to deepen our understanding of the Church's rich heritage and to empower our life of discipleship. We will post information about new EFM classes as they become available.
